The Challenge
In 2023, Xapo Bank—a fully licensed private bank headquartered in Gibraltar that combines the security of traditional banking with the innovation of cryptocurrency—entered the Mexican market. As the world’s first Bitcoin private bank, Xapo aimed to attract high-net-worth and mid-affluent individuals seeking secure, global alternatives to traditional banking. The launch came at a time of heightened skepticism in the crypto space following the FTX collapse, making it essential to build credibility while clearly communicating the bank’s unique value proposition.
The Work
Dialogue developed and executed a comprehensive communications launch strategy to meet these challenges. We crafted a messaging architecture anchored in the pillars of security, innovation, and exclusivity, tailored to appeal to diverse customer profiles, from digital nomads to corporate executives. Our media outreach included top-tier outlets such as El Financiero, Forbes México, Expansión, and Milenio. We also integrated Xapo into high-visibility financial podcasts such as Cracks and Dimes y Billetes, and activated strategic partnerships with leading Mexican academic institutions—including IPADE, a top-ranked business school, and ITAM, a prestigious private university specializing in economics and finance—through private events and online panels. And finally, we collaborated with influential fintech voices in Mexico including @missfinanzas and @luisminegocios to generate further buzz among target audiences.
The Results
Overall, we secured 25+ tier 1 earned media placements for the launch phase, resulting in over 1.2 million impressions and strong audience engagement. These combined efforts helped solidify Xapo’s reputation in Mexico as a secure, modern banking solution that bridges traditional finance and crypto innovation. The campaign generated not only positive media coverage but also inbound interest from financial forums, trade shows, and high-net-worth networks across the region.
